Galduun was its own country, a pacifist nation, stuck between the warring countries of Celdun and Volchar, for much of the history of the region. When the The Galduun Event took place at Mount Galindre, the resulting magical explosion leveled the majority of Galduun, and left the rest a desert of floating ash. For centuries after, the region was uninhabited, its occupants either fled to either Celdun to the south or Volchar to the north, or becoming tribal desert nomads out of necessity.
In the last hundred years, after Celdun's armies marched north to conquer Volchar once and for all, Galduun is slowly being resettled. Much of its territory is still an ashen desert, but agricultural advancements and heavy use of magic are making incremental gains at returning it to a livable place.
There are oases of culture and civilization here, surrounded by the barren landscape of the desert and its nomadic peoples. The population is small, and strange mutations abound. The populace are shunned somewhat as oddities by the rest of Celdun, but they also have booming economy comparatively for their size, due to the fact that they are sitting on top of the property of a massive nation from the past. Adventurers and tourists often come here to search for forgotten treasures and valuables, and foraging, archaeology, exploration, and the repurposing of once-useful things are the pastimes of the nation.
The baron of Galduun is Jordan Lyrans.
