Roll20 SRD

Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the Dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. As myth would have it, in a time long past, Bahamut and Tiamat worked together to cause the Dragonborn to come into existence, and the first Dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining the best attributes of dragons and humanoids. In Aithar today, Dragonborn are a proud people, putting much stock in personal honor and in their beliefs or morals, whatever those are. They often tend towards extremes of good or evil, but not always.

Dragonborn often live in either communities (clans) of other Dragonborn, or are nomads or live otherwise reclusive lives. Dragonborn can be of either metallic dragon heritage or chromatic dragon heritage, and often have residual facets of both their appearance and their powers which reflect the type of dragon bloodline they have descended from.

Metallic Dragonborn tend to be utterly reclusive, keeping contact with perhaps only a few of their clanmates or neighbors, but withdrawing from the constant attention given them by humans who find them interesting or repulsive. They sometimes can be found living in relatively small, relatively remote clan communities, which are primarily in the Free Cities, or in the mountains (The Free Cities are the most tolerant place to be about anything, primarily because there’s no real law beyond that of your immediate community). There are occasional Metallic Dragonborn who live in the cities, often as part of entertainment troupes and the like, but one would have to have either lost a lot of self-respect or been brought up shamefully (possibly by non-Dragonborn) to conduct oneself in such a manner.

Chromatic Dragonborn were quite similar in disposition to metallic Dragonborn for the last few centuries, living relatively quiet lives in small communities or even as hermits of a sort. Unfortunately, post-invasion, they found themselves forced to either join up with the Dragonsworn ranks or go into hiding, for fear that neighbors would come after them out of racial hatred, even if they weren’t evil by nature or had not done anything wrong

The Dragonsworn armies and mobs of rabble have a fair few chromatic-heritage Dragonborn in their ranks. Many are in leadership roles because of the fact that the Dragonsworn naturally treat them with a little bit of reverence.
